STARTING A NEW CHAPTER

THE LATEST ABOUT MACKENZIE

Yesterday I took Mackenzie to the doctor for her yearly checkup. 

She had been excited all week long because it was her turn to have a doctor appointment!  However, once we were actually there and it was time for me to help her into the little paper gown she got a little nervous. 

Those of you who know Mackenzie know that she has a huge vocabulary, and she is not afraid to speak her mind!  I was so excited for her doctor to see how smart she is! 

However, when the doctor walked into the room and started asking her questions like Do you like to eat apples?  and Do you use a carseat in the car?  she just sat there looking at her leggs and refused to talk so I ended up having to answer the doctor's questions for her. 

It wasn't very long into the appointment when her fear got the best of her, and she started to cry.  So the doctor ended up having to do her exam while she was sitting on my lap. :)

Doctor says that Mackenzie is doing GREAT!  She is the height of the average 4 year, and she weighs as much as the average 4-5 year old!  He also says that she is far beyond where she needs to be at her age!  For example:  She is aparently suposed to be starting to recognize and be able to name a few of the main colors.  She pretty much knows them all, and has for quite some time now! 

She had to get one shot today, and a test that involved a needle.  I was worried that she might start to cry, or squirm, and make it hard for the nurse to do what she had to do.  But she did awesome!  She didn't even flinch! 

When the appointment was all over she got to pick out a sticker, and she was even sweet enough to pick one out for her brother too! 

Once we left the doctors ofice, she spent the rest of the day making sure that everyone that she talked to knew that she had gone to a doctor appointment, it is something that she is quite proud of. :)

POST 09- PETPIEVE

AN UPDATE ON KYLE

This past Wednesday Kyle went to the doctor for his 5 year well check up, and to have his stitches taken out. 

The check up went great!  Kyle is the height and weight of the average 10 year old.  He said that if we were matching his weight to his age he would be considdered over weight, but it matches his height perfectly so he is doing good!  He also said that as far as everything else goes he is right where he should be, YAY!!!

When the doctor took the stitches out he said that it is healing very well, and that he will probably lose the skin that is covering the cut.  Kyle was a little scared that getting the stitches taken out was going to hurt like it did to get them put in, but he was very brave!

WE ARE PRAYING VERY HARD!!!!!

This information is as of yesterday, but it is the latest information that I have seen. 

According to this map the fire seams to be avoiding Big Lake so far!!!  However, the fire is moving North and as of this morning the fire is still 0 percent contained  so there is still a very real chance that we could lose it. :(  ButI do know that they have a type 1 fire fighting team on that side of the fire.  It is in the Lord's hands, and all we can do is pray.......we are doing a whole lot of that!

SO SO SAD!!!!!

This is what my grandparents woke up to this morning thanks to the stupid Wallow fire.  The picture was taken by my uncle's mom who lives right next door. Right now they are in no danger from the fire there, there is just smoke so thick that they can't see beyond the wash that is right behind their house. 

I learned last night that the fire had taken out the Big Lake lookout tower.  I can remember hiking to this tower as a little girl with my aunts.  I can't believe it's gone.  We do have a small glimmer of hope though.  The lookout tower is a couple miles to the other side of the lake from the camp grounds. There is a small chance that the fire could have missed the camping area!  I know it's a long shot, but this is our place, and it really feals like a piece of home is burning!

I learned this morning that the fire has grown to 140 thousand acers, and it is now the third largest fire in Arizona's history.  It is just so so sad! 

MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD MIGHT BE GONE :(

This is where my family has gone camping every single summer for the past .... well for a whole lot of yoars!  They have been going since way before I was born. 

The last time that I got to go camping there was before I got married more than 6 years ago. We did go once for about 2 hours when Kenzie was 6 months old, but that is the most that I have seen of the place in a really long time. 

This year the kids and I were fianally going to get to go!  I have been telling the kids about all of the fun things that we will get to do, and they ask me every day if we are going to go camping yet. 

Well, I haven't had the heart to tell the kids, but we might not get to go there after all because this is what that area looks like right now thanks to the Wallow fire

 Right now we don't exactly know if our favorite place to camp has been burned or not, but we have read one report that it was within 1 mile of our favorite lake. 

If our favorite place does infact burn down, we will ofcourse find somewhere else to go, but it will be very very sad because it is our family tradition to go there every single year without fail!

Right now this fire is the 4th. largest fire in Arizona's history.  They say that the plume of smoke can be seen from over 200 miles away.

I also feel so bad for all of the people who have been evacuated from their homes.  I just can't even imagine what that feels like to watch all of the news coverage and wonder if your house is still standing.  I will definately be praying for all of those who are up there around the fire. 

POST 08- SOMETHING I CRAVE

MACKENZIE THE MACHANIC!

This past weekend Uncle David spent most of his time over here working on one car or another, and Mackenzie had to be right out there working with him.  Every time I went outside to check on her and make sure that she was staying out of Uncle David's way she always had a wrench in her hand.  At one point I even heard Uncle David teaching her the diference between a philips head and a flat head screwdriver. :) 

Uncle David didn't seem to mind having her out there helping him, and at one point I guess she even figured out how to start taking some part of the car apart..... Uncle David didn't seam to mind though, he just put it back together, and said that he thought that it was cute. :) 

Who knows, mabye she will work on cars when she's older. 

"DATE DAY"

When Kyle was in the emergency room Kimber promised him that she was going to take him on a date. Since today is her day off this week, she decided that today was as good a day as any to go on our "date". 

This morning when I lifted Kyle out of his bunk bed (he's not allowed to use the ladder while the stitches are in) he said "Hey mom, it's date day!)  He was very excited! :) 

So we got dressed, ate breakfast, gave Kyle his morning dose of antibiotics, and changed his bandage, and before we knew it Kimber and Slade were here to pick us up.

Before heading off to all of the fun places we stopped by Kimber's work where Kenzie fianally got to meet the guy that she has been calling her boyfriend for the past couple of months.  He is 24 years old, and before now she had only seen him through a drive through window, but she has been in love with him!  Now she can officially say that she has met him. :)

First we headed to the mall because Kimber wanted to look at some swimsuits at a certain store there.  She didn't end up buying anything, but we did get to do some other things. 
I spent the Sea's gift certificate that I got for Mother's Day,

We ate Wetzles Pretzles, and they were DELICIOUS!

After a couple of hours we left the mall and headed to Burlington where Kimber again looked at swimsuits.....again she found nothing she wanted to buy, so we left the store empty handed.  But we stopped at Taco Bell where we purchased some much needed drinks, then it was off to Kohles where it took her a while, but Kimber FIANALLY found a cute tankini that she liked. :)

After that it was back in the car to go and find something to eat for lunch.  We ended up at Wendy's, and the kids loved it!

Our last stop of the day was Wal Mart where I got a few things that I had been pricing for a couple of months now.

I am so excited that I paid almost a hundred bucks less than I had anticipated!  Now the kids and I will be able to watch movies in my room, and we won't dominate the living room tv quite so much. :)

After that we headed home, and we were all exhausted after a very busy and fun "date day."

OUR BUSY WEEKEND

My aunt and uncle are getting a new roof put on their house, but they have to take the old one off first before the professionals can come in and put the new one on.  So this past Saturday we all woke up super early and headed over to help.

There were even fun things for Kyle to do even though he wasn't allowed to walk.  He got to swing....

He also got to water the garden, and he was very excited that Uncle John still had a special job for him to do!

Kenzie got to have a turn wattering the garden too!

After several hours it was time to go to Dallas's birthday party!  It was a water party which Kyle couldn't participate in so I took Kenzie to the party, where she had lots of fun...

And Kyle got to come home with Grandma and they baked a yummy cookie pizza together! 

By the end of the day we were all exhausted, and some of us were pretty sunburned, but we all had a great day!  It is always fun to hang out with our family, we always have so much fun! 

POST 07- A PIECE OF ART

My younger brother Clint is an amazing artist.  He draws everything freehand, and it comes out looking perfect every single time!

STITCHES

This is the sad story of what happened to my sweet little guy this past Thursday. 



WARNING:  IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE SIGHT OF BLOOD PLEASE DO NOT SCROLL DOWN!!!!!



On Thursday Afternoon Kyle was running around the house barefoot as he often does, and he ended up steppingon a piece of glass.  He ran into the livingroom screaming "Mom I am bleeding!"  At first I wasn't too worried about it because He always gets a little over excited when blood is involved.  However, when he sat down, and I picked up his foot to see what had happened, I quickly realized that he wasn't over reacting this time!  Here is a cleaned up version of what I saw.

Normally blood dosen't really bother me, but this one made me made me cringe! 

I called for my mom who had literally just walked in the door from work, and she told me that we had better get him to urgent care right away. 

Luckily Kimber and David had both just gotten off of work, and had just so happened to arive here to pick up Slade at the exact same time.  So David carried Kyle to his car, and carefully settled him in the back seat while my mom kept his foot elevated, and pressure on it.  Meanwhile I climbed into the other side of the back seat to take over what my mom had been doing with Kyle's foot. 

David then grabbed Kenzie and Slade and put them in his other car to take them home with him while my mom and Kimber climbed into the front of the car that Kyle and I were in the back of. 

We made it to urgent care just minutes before they closed, and I struggled to carry Kyle in a position that made it possable for my mom to apply pressure to his foot.  As soon as we were inside though they gave Kyle a wheel chair, and I tell you what, that made my day! 

The nurses took a look at his foot, and kyle was loving it all!  He thought that it was the coolest thing that he was at urgent care and thet he was getting fixed.  I am truely amazed at how brave he was!  He spent the whole time talking their ears off.  He told them about anything and everything that he could think to say! 

The nurses told us that their director would have to look at it to tell us for sure, but that we would most likely have to go to an ER.  And sure enough when the director saw it, he told us that he would be happy to take care of it for us, but that it was deep enough that there could possibly be cut tendons or nerves, and that he just didn't have enough experience with pediatric feet to know for sure.  So he left the choice up to us, but he recomended that we go to a children's hospital. 

So, the nurses cleaned it up, wrapped it, gave him an ice pack, and helped us get him back into the car, and they didn't even charge me a dine!!!

When we got to the hospital, I carried Kyle around to the Children's ER entrance and my heart sank a little when I saw the line.  It wouldn't have mattered to me so much except for the fact that Kyle had no shoes or socks on so I DID NOT want his feet to touch that floor, and he is REALLY HEAVY! 

It was fianally our turn, and once we got Kyle all checked in we were lucky to find a seat in the waiting room that had roughly 10 chairs in it. 

We hung out there for quite a while.  Kyle spent most of his time watching cartoons, and comparing our matching bracelets which he called "matchy face" :)

After a while we were fianally called back to triage where again Kyle talked the nurse's ear off, and she said  "Geeze, you're sure a happy kid!  Could you just look sick or something?  All the other kids are going to want what you have!" 

From there we were immediately taken back to a private room where Kyle FIANALLY got his cool hospital bed that he had been waiting so patiently for!

Several diferent people came in to look at the cut, and when each one left, he would ask me who was coming next.  In no time at all the doctor came in.  He was probably a few years younger than me, and could have probably  easily gotten a job as a male model. :)   He told me that Kyle would need xrays and deffinately stitches.

So pretty soon the xray guy came in with the coolest portable xray machine that I have ever seen, and I had to step out, but I could here Kyle talking to him too!  The thing I remember most was "Do you know my uncle John?  He has a job for me when I go to his house." 

After the xrays were done we were moved to a comunity play room where Kyle got to play a video game and color a Finding Nemo picture.  All I got to do there was talk to a financial lady who was quite rude to me. 

Kyle was soon moved to another private room where a nurse cleaned his cut.  The soap hur him, but he was very brave!  We then waited just a few minutes until the nurse came back in with a physisans assistant to stitch the foot up. 

Kyle was VERY BRAVE!!!  He only cried when they were putting in the numbing medicine, and when a few stitches had to go deeper than the numbing medicine could go. 

When he cried it broke my heart, and I felt so helpless because ll I could do was hold his hand and rub his hair. 

When it was all done the nurse asked me if I wanted to see, and this is what I saw.

He ended up with 15 stitches..... 1 deep inside his foot holding it all together, and 14 surrounding a chunk of skin that had nearly been cut off. 

Since he was so brave the nurse brought him a popsicle, and a juice box.  He was just as happy as could be. 

Kimber also got some juice because she very nearly passed out. :)

Kyle fianally got to home at about 10 pm with a perscription for an antibiotic, and strict instructions that he is not to walk.  Luckily my grandma has a wheel chair which makes it a lot easier!

I am so proud of my brave boy, and I am just so grateful that he was being watched over that day because it could have so easily been so much worse! 

POST 06- FUN FACT ABOUT ME

Most of the people who know me already know this, but it was the only thing that I could think of, so I am going to put it here anyway. 

My fun fact is that I sang my first solo in Sacrament Meeting when I was 3 years old. I sang "I Heard Him Come"  I sang it from memory with my dad standing beside me, and my mom played the piano for me. 

POST 05- FAVORITE QUOTE

I thought and thought about what I could put here that would be impressive, but in the end I decided to go with the quote that has been my favorite, and something that has helped me a lot over the past several years. 

"I never said it would be easy....I only said that it would be worth it." 

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

Since I was a little bit of a slacker, and didn't go shopping for Mother'sDay until the day before, I ended up having to wait until this morning to get one of our Mother's Day gifts in the mail. 

As I headed to the mail box the first thing that I noticed was that it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL outside!  So, once my mail was in the mail box, I headed back inside where I told the kids to put their shoes on because we were going to go for a walk.

We ended up going to the "far park" to play.  We stayed there for almost 2 hours, and we had the place all to ourselves the whole time! 

After a while we headed home to eat lunch, although the kids weren't too happy about having to go home. 

We quickly ate our lunch, and it was still really nice out, so we got the sidewalk chalk out, and spent another hour or so coloring on the driveway. 

Kenzie and Slade are taking their naps now, so we can't go outside now, but if the opprotunity arises, we will most definately be playing outside again today! 

I hear that it is suposed to be nice again tomorrow, which means that we will most definately be taking advantage of the nice weather again!  Because lets face it..... It is May, and we don't have many more nice days left before we are forced to hibrinate in our airconditioned houses for who really knows how long until the nice weather returns in November or December. 

I am very thankfful that today is a beautiful day! 

MOTHERS DAY 2011!

Mother's day started for me with the kids and I sitting around the kitchen table enjoying bowls of genaric LuckyCharms for breakfast. 

After breakfast the kids were so excited to give me my Mother's Day gifts!  Kyle gave me a really pretty green shirt, the color reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream, and I love it!  Kenzie gave me a neclace and earings set, and some bracelents that go with the new shirt and skirt that I recently bought for church.  She also gave me a delicious chocolate bar!  I love her gift too! 

A little while later we headed off to church. Sacrament Meeting had some really good talks, and after it was over Kyle and Kenzie went up on the stage with the rest of the Primary kids to sing to the mom's while the Priests and Laurels handed little presents out to all the mom's.  I wasn't quite sure what they were at first, but I later found that they were little homemade cakeballs on a stick.  Attached to it was a quote by Sherri Dew. 

During Gospel Docterine Kenzie was brought to me because she just wouldn't stop crying.  I later learned that her very favorite teacher wasn't there today, and she was very sad about that.  So we hung out in her classroom and waited for the rest of the Sunbeams to show up for what she calls "the little class"  After that she did great! 

Relief Society was great!  The teacher who taught today always gives awesome lessons! 

After church the kids teachers told me that they had dome a great job, and that made me really happy so they each got to have a treat when we got home.  Both kids also had little presents for me from Primary.  Kyle's was a little sucker with a flower around the stem and a quote that said "If Mother's were flowers then I'd pick you"  And Kenzie gave me a pincil that was decorated like a cute little flower. 

Once we got home, we gave my mom her gifts then we just hung out and relaxed for a while.  Before long it was dinner time, so we quickly ate, then we headed over to each of our grandma's houses where we wpent a little time visiting. My Grandma had a little treat for us, and my Grandma M shared some of her chocolates with us. 

After a while it was time to head home, and we got home just in time to put the kids to bed.  I think my very favorite part of Mother's day was how excited my kids were to constantly give me hugs and kisses, and tell me "happy Mothers Day", and tell me how much they love me!  I love being a mom! 

I would also like to take just a second to say THANK YOU to my mom, and  to all of the other mother's who have been a huge suport in my life!  You have all been so wonderful and helpful to me, and I would not be where I am today with out your suport!  I love you all!!!  HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!

ANOTHER FUN FUNDRAISER

I love my aunt & Uncle's ward, they always do such fun things!  Does the church allow boundry exceptions?  No I'm just kidding, but they really do have fun family activities! 

Tonight we went to a spaghetti dinner dinner and cariokie night. (I totally spelled that wrong)  It cost us $5.00 a person, and that got us each a yummy dinner, and we got to listen to people sing, play insterments, and one girl even did a dance.  The money went to help the young women pay for girls camp. 

I'm glad that we went because it was lots of fun! 

POST 04- FAVORITE BOOK

Choosing my favorite book was very easy!  Okay well actually I have four favorite books, but they are all part of the same series, so they  count as one book right?   Well anyway, ever since I read Twilight for the first time it has been my favorite book!  And if I had to pick a favorite out of the four it would be Breaking Dawn! 

I am pretty sure that mostly everybody has read these books by now, but if by some miricle you havn't read them yet, well I think that you should! I love them!
