WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

A couple of days ago I asked what he was hoping would happen at his doctor appointment today. His answer was

"I know it is far fetched, but I am hoping that he will say okay, here is your surgery date!"

So today we arrived shortly after 9 am for his 9:30 appointment, and Aaron's name was called for his appointment before he was even finished paying his co-pay. We were then taken to the same room where we were last week where again we waited no more than a couple of minutes!

As soon as the doctor came in, he showed us what he had been studying all week. He had also gotten Mayo's Radiology department involved to look at the scans. His decision at the end of all of that was:

AARON NEEDS TO HAVE THAT ADRENAL GLAND TAKEN OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Just to get a second opinion on his decision, he called and asked another doctor he knows his opinion on the matter. When he got off of the phone he said,

"You just got a free consultation! That was one of the few people who know more about this disease than I do, and he thinks that surgery is the best option too! He is a man who I greatly admired in Russia!" I have no idea if he called Russia, or if he just used to know the guy in Russia, but either way, we felt pretty special.

He then got on the phone with the lady in charge of scheduling appointments with the surgeon that Aaron will see. She said that he was unavailable at the moment, but that she would try to give us a call later in the day to set something up.

So, we continued talking to the doctor about his findings, and the next thing we knew, he brought another doctor in. This doctor honestly looked younger than me, and I am sure that he is still pretty new at his job. Aaron's doctor then proceeded to use Aaron as a teaching tool. The doctor explained Aaron's medical situation, and this doctor had to try to figure out what he would have had to do if Aaron had been his patient.

In the middle of this conversation, the doctor got a call informing him that an appointment had been set up for Aaron on November 3rd. Aaron's doctor sure knows how to pull strings because this surgeon just so happens to be going on vacation for 2 weeks, and Aaron's doctor asked him if he could please try to fit Aaron in before that vacation! I was kind of amazed because I didn't think that it would actually happen.

So now here we are looking forward to an appointment with the surgeon who will take out Aaron's adrenal gland! And in the words of Aaron's doctor, he is

"the best of the best!"

This will not be the surgery day, but it is the next step in that direction!

Because of how long Aaron has been living with this condition, he said that he might have to take a small amount of medication for his blood pressure, but NOTHING like what he has bee taking for the last few years!

Aaron says that he can't wait to see what if feels like to be normal! And we are all really excited!
